Tomorrow evening I'm getting on a plane to Baltimore for job interviews at the APA. I've got interviews with some nice departments, and I'm looking forward to it. Once the conference ends, I'll be hanging out with people in the DC area until January 8. Then back to Austin until job stuff takes me out of town on the 17th.
In between prepping for interviews, I had time at home to shoot my first video blog post. I think it went well, except that the full moon came up and caused some rather amusing technical difficulties...

The life
I've sent off 93 applications, and I could end up with everything I want or no job at all. Here I enter the week when I'll be hoping places call me. I'll feel my cell phone vibrating, and excitedly open it, and see nothing, and realize that it was just sliding a little against the inside of my pants pocket as I shifted position. And that'll be the ninth time it's happened that day.
But getting a 'revise and resubmit' from Philosophical Review -- one of the two best journals in the business -- on the paper that's at the core of my dissertation makes me feel rock solid.
I don't know where the world is taking me, but I know I'm strong.
